Ski 4 Yellow, John Popper and Olympic Athletes – Big Weekend in Steamboat

Steamboat is hosting the first annual Ski 4 Yellow fundraiser that will have participants scouring the Steamboat Ski Resort to finish all the events plus it’s a chance to ride or ski with US Olympian/World Cup Athletes!   The Steamboat Ski Resort will host the perfect terrain for this inaugural fundraiser in the fight against cancer.  The fundraiser supports the Livestrong Foundation with global influence while also supporting local Steamboat cancer foundations.  See how you can participate- be a big skier or donate.

Ski 4 Yellow teams will have to complete a treasure hunt of items before they can call themselves winners.  They will have to ride every ski lift on the mountain, complete the NASTAR course, get the most vertical feet, ride the Maverick half-pipe, visit key landmarks and venture down some of Steamboat’s expert terrain!  All Ski 4 Yellow events begin at 8:45 am at the Top of the Gondola.  Congrats the winners at 2:00 pm where you can probably find most of them at Slopeside Bar and Grill. Ski 4 Yellow has raised over $24,000 so far.  Register today to play with the Olympians and support an incredible global/local cause!

And don’t miss the free concerts! Spring is here and at 3pm at the Gondola Square get your dance on with John Popper and the Duskray Troubadours! This big name band comes to Steamboat for the Bud Light Rocks the Boat Concert Series.   John Popper is the lead singer from Blues Traveler who teamed up with an incredible array of artists to bring these new sounds to the stage.

Ski 4 Yellow is the sister winter event to the annual Ride 4 Yellow event which came to Steamboat last summer 2010.  Lance Armstrong himself rode the course and supported the event.  Learn more about the 2011 Ride 4 Yellow!

Steamboat Snow Record 2011: 350" Inches of Snow

Almost 30 feet of snow has blanketed Steamboat and the Steamboat Ski Resort this 2010/2011 winter season and believe us- this winter really has been epic!  With only a month or so left in this ski season we are dying to see how much more snow we can get! Ranchers in Steamboat like to call this type of deep snow winter a "four-wire" winter.  When so much snow has fallen it stacks up over the 4th row of wires on their fences! That is deep!

According to the Steamboat Ski Resort, "Since October 23rd, snow has fallen 86 out of 137 days with 38 of those days recording four or more inches. In March alone, snow has fallen 5 of 8 days with 2 days recording four or more inches. "

So what do we do with all this snow? We have a epic spring ski conditions that will feel much like mid winter conditions.  You'll be hard pressed to find any rocks or grass sticking out from the slopes this year!  This year's spring conditions and celebrations will be Springalicious- Enjoy tons of outdoor music, sunshine, apres drinks, and end of season unique events! but don't take our word for it- come discover the true epic conditions on your own.  This spring we are offering serious lodging deals, and ski pass deals that will ensure everyone gets some awesome ski turns!

Sam Bush Free Concert in Steamboat Springs 2011

What can possibly make this Friday any better than a potential snowstorm to give everyone some fresh powder to ski in, a Free Bud Light Rocks the Boat Concert with Sam Bush and some good old apres ski entertainment?

Sam Bush is playing tomorrow Friday March 3, 2011 at 3pm at the base of the Steamboat Ski Resort to keep Steamboat Rockin! Sam Bush is Grammy Award winning multi-instrumentalist artist. Sam Bush doesn't seem old enough to be a musical legend. And he's not. But he is. Alternately known as the King of Telluride and the King of Newgrass, Bush has been honored by the Americana Music Association and the International Bluegrass Music Association. But honors are not what drive him. "I didn't get into music to win awards," he says. "I'm just now starting to get somewhere. I love to play and the older I get the more I love it. And I love new things."
I will hoping to hear my favorite songs "Girl of the North Country" and "Same ol' River"!!! Watch the Video below!

So NOW do you know you're friday afternoon plans?  Coming to Steamboat last minute? Book with ResortQuest and get great lodging deals! See our current deals 30% off March! and get to Steamboat for some fun!
